Take a self-guided walk at the site of a pre-Civil War (1848) military outpost to learn about one of the first frontier Army forts in Texas. Open daily. No admission charge.
Fort Martin Scott is a restored United States Army outpost that was active from December 1848 until April 1853. It was part of a line of frontier forts established to protect travelers and settlers within Texas.
Located in town, headed toward Luckenbach this Fort is fun and a great place for the kids (and adults). Enjoy the Frontier days or check out their website for events. They will roll out the red carpet for you if you call ahead and let them know you are coming. Great historians and fun learning!
